Thank you... Sarah Palin???

This past Friday, former vice presidential candidate and current Governor of Alaska announced that she would both not be seeking another term in office in 2010 and that she would be stepping down from the governor's office altogether as of the end of this month. When I first heard this news which still seems shocking and bizarre I was quite confused.

Her press conference was very scattered. She started by going through all the accomplishments that her office has accomplished since shes been the governor. Some of these accomplishments include: predator control, drilling for oil in Alaska, and a bi-partisan energy program. She then went into her comfortable and usual fodder of blaming the media for criticizing her in the '08 election season and beyond. Some of the specific accusations she addressed were "holding a fish in a photograph, wearing a jacket with a logo on it, and answering reporters’ questions."(http://community.adn.com/adn/node/142176) She then made the announcement that she would not seek a 2Nd term as Governor and that she would be resigning at the end of this month. She was determined not to be a "lame duck".

"I do not want to disappoint anyone with my decision; all I can ask is that you TRUST me with this decision – but it’s no more “politics as usual”.

So what's the reaction to this impending resignation. Both sides of the aisle are flabbergasted. I'm not really sure what to think of it, if she plans on running for the presidency in 2012, she's going to have to answer why she as Governor didn't serve for her full term. Maybe she's considering the Alaskan senate seat, to get some experience in DC. Whatever her plans are, she's stepping out of the public eye for awhile. And to that I say "thank you, thank you, thank you!!"
